What is Classical Christian Education?

Classical Christian education is a model of education that seeks to cultivate wisdom, virtue, and a lifelong love of learning by integrating rigorous academics with a distinctly Christian worldview. Rooted in the the Christian faith and the classical tradition, it equips students not merely with knowledge, but with the habits of mind and heart necessary to pursue truth, goodness, and beauty. Students engage deeply with literature, history, mathematics, science, theology, and the arts, learning to think critically, communicate clearly, and understand the world as God's creation.

In classical Christian education we use the trivium, a time-tested framework that aligns learning with a child's natural stages of development. During the Grammar stage (roughly grades K-6), students build a strong foundation of knowledge through memorization and mastery of core facts. In the Logic stage (grades 7-9), they learn to reason carefully, analyze ideas, and recognize sound arguments. In the Rhetoric stage (grades 10-12), students develop the ability to communicate truth persuasively and graciously through speaking and writing. This progression helps students become thoughtful, articulate, and discerning learners.

The study of Latin is another distinctive feature of classical Christian education. As the foundational language of much of Western civilization and a key influence on English and many other languages, Latin strengthens students' understanding of grammar, vocabulary, and language structure. It also provides direct access to historical texts and enriches the study of theology, literature, law, and science. Through Latin, students gain not only practical linguistic skills but also a deeper appreciation for the intellectual and cultural traditions that have shaped the Christian and Western world.
