Statement of Faith

Apostle’s Creed

We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and was seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from Heaven He shall come again to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Nicene Creed

We believe in one God,

the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary,
and became truly human.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
He suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father [and the Son],
who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen

The Word of God

We believe that the Holy Bible is the divinely inspired, revealed, infallible, and written Word of God. It is complete and is the only authentic and inerrant authority in all matters of life and faith. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; John 20:30-31; 1Kings 18:21 ; 1 Corinthians 2:13 )

The Trinity

We believe that there is but one living and true God, eternally existent in three Persons of one power, substance, and eternity—Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is perfectly wise, the overflowing fountain of all good. He is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. In all things He is limited by nothing other than His own nature and character. We believe the God we serve is holy, righteous, good, loving, and full of mercy. He is the Creator, Sustainer, and Governor of all that has been made.

Human Sexuality

We believe that our sexuality is a good gift from God. Sexual intimacy is blessed by Him when expressed according to God’s design, within the context of monogamous heterosexual marriage. Outside of that context, sexual intimacy, whether heterosexual or homosexual, is sin. All who desire to turn from sin, sexual or otherwise, can be forgiven and renewed by the grace of God in Jesus. (Genesis 2:244, Exodus 20:14; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Romans 1:26-32, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.)

-  We believe gender also matters to God. God’s creation of each person as male and female is           complementary within marriage and reflects the image and nature of God (Gen 1:26-27).

   Those who reject their biological sex reject God’s design and the person He created them to be.

Marriage

We believe that marriage is a divine institution and a holy union of one man and one woman entered into by mutual consent. With God’s help, they are to build a loving, life-giving, faithful relationship that will last for a lifetime. We believe that when a marriage is true to God’s loving design it brings spiritual, physical, emotional, economic and social benefits not only to the couple and family but also to the Church and to the wider culture. (Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:31-33; Psalm 127:3; 1 Corinthians 7:1-7)
